Why use carbon steel filter?
1. Carbon steel is resistant to high pressure
- Compared with fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP), carbon steel can withstand higher working pressure, usually up to 10-16 bar or even higher.
- It is suitable for high flow rate and high pressure industrial water treatment, such as boiler make-up water, process cooling water, chemical waste water treatment, etc.
2. Carbon steel can be used for larger scale water treatment projects.
- Carbon steel tank can be made bigger, it is suitable for large-scale water treatment system, such as municipal water supply, industrial circulating water treatment.
- With strong pressure-bearing capacity, it can be used as deep filter and precision filter, which is suitable for the scene that needs high efficiency filtration.
3. Can be filled with a variety of filter media
- It can be filled with a variety of filter media (quartz sand, activated carbon, manganese sand, anthracite, etc.) to meet different water treatment needs:
- Quartz sand: remove suspended solids, turbidity
- Activated carbon: Remove odor, residual chlorine, organic pollutants.
- Manganese sand: remove iron and manganese ions
- Suitable for different fields such as industry, food, chemical industry, drinking water, wastewater reuse, etc.
4. Carbon steel material high temperature resistance
- Carbon steel is more resistant to high temperature (generally up to 100 ℃ or more), suitable for boiler water treatment, steam condensate recovery and other high temperature conditions. Fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) tanks are easily deformed under high temperature environment.
5. Can be customized under complex working conditions
- Customized tank thickness, internal anticorrosion coating, interface flange size, suitable for water treatment projects with different acidity and corrosivity.
- Designed as vertical, horizontal, parallel or series combination, flexible to adapt to different water treatment processes.
6. Applicable to large-scale industrial projects
- Many large-scale industrial water treatment projects (such as power plants, petrochemical, metallurgy) need to comply with ASME, GB, API and other standards, carbon steel tanks are more likely to meet these requirements.
Application Scenarios of Carbon Steel Filter
? Municipal water supply, sewage treatment
? Boiler make-up water treatment (removal of suspended solids, iron and manganese ions)
? Industrial cooling circulating water treatment (prevent pipe blockage, corrosion)
? Food, beverage, pharmaceutical industry (remove residual chlorine, impurities, improve water quality)
? Process water treatment for chemical, petroleum, metallurgy and other industries
? Desalination pre-treatment (remove large particles of impurities, protect the subsequent RO system)
Carbon Steel Filter vs. Fiberglass Filter
- Carbon steel filter is a better choice if it needs to withstand high pressure, high flow rate, or for industrial grade applications.
- If the water quality is corrosive (e.g. acidic and alkaline water), you need to do anti-corrosion coating, or choose FRP filter.
- If the budget is limited and it is a low-pressure system (e.g. swimming pool, home water purification), fiberglass filters are more economical.
